The Ferrata degli Alpini, which runs along the rounded edge of Col dei Bos (Lagazuoi – Passo Falzarego), is a via ferrata recently equipped by the Alpini. It quickly became one of the most beautiful and repeated in the basin of Cortina d’Ampezzo and in the Dolomites. There are many reasons for this success. First of all safety, as the via ferrata is very well equipped with new metal cable and many rungs. Another reason is the variety and beauty of the passages: it is never too difficult or exposed, but still has some fun walls to climb. The most difficult part is definitely the attack, where you have to climb a vertical wall of about 80 metres. Having overcome this first obstacle, there are no other passages of this difficulty up to the top. Another reason for its fame is the panorama enjoyed throughout the ascent, which sweeps over some of the most important peaks of the Dolomites (Tofane, Antelao, Sorapiss, Marmolada, Sella). Finally, the beautiful access path allows a quick and easy access among the remains of the First World War.
A perfect ferrata for those who already have experience with via ferratas and want to try something a little more challenging, in a beautiful and relaxing environment, excellent as training for the more challenging ferratas in the Dolomites. it is also suitable for well-trained neophytes looking for a lot of adrenaline!
Given the exposure, it can also be walked at the beginning of the season (depending on the presence of snow) or in late autumn, when the larches turn golden colours and make the environment even more atmospheric.
