Dedicated to the great Cortina mountaineer Albino Michieli Strobel, the Strobel via ferrata climbs up the western side of Punta Fiames (Pomagagnon) and offers a breathtaking view of the Cortina d’Ampezzo basin and the surrounding mountains. The route climbs logically, alternating between broad rocky ledges and well-equipped vertical and exposed sections. With an elevation gain of around 1,000 metres, it is suitable for fit people. The prize is a beautiful via ferrata with varied and fun passages and an incomparable view of Cortina d’Ampezzo and the Boite Valley.
The approach follows path 218, which leads to the attack in about an hour. Along the via ferrata, easy stretches alternate with more vertical and exposed ones. Thanks to the excellent equipment of this via ferrata, the ascent is always safe and a lot of fun. In the upper section, an aerial iron ladder makes it possible to overcome a very difficult section of the wall. It is certainly the most exciting section of the entire ferrata. At the top, you can see 360° of the surrounding mountains and almost touch them.
The descent is along the impressive Pomagagnon gully.
In short, a ferrata that cannot be missed!
